How This Started
My fitness journey began at a small gym near Avenida da Liberdade 100 Fitness Club in Lisboa. It wasn't flawless, but it was reachable, affordable, and it helped me maintain consistency.
After that spot closed, I saw how rapidly the fitness landscape in Portugal was evolving. New gyms opened, fresh ideas emerged, and marketing grew louder than the actual member experience.
I began trying various gyms and classes, jotting notes after each visit. Over time those notes became this site, created to help others make more informed choices.
My Approach to Reviews
Each review here is based on actual visits and time spent inside the club. I emphasize practical details that matter when selecting a membership.
When I review a fitness center, I typically:
- Take enough time to grasp routines, peak times, and patterns
- Visit on different days and at different times
- Try more than one training format and instructor
- Use amenities regularly to judge cleanliness and comfort
- Talk to other members about what is consistent and what is not
- Write notes immediately after each visit
I refresh reviews when major changes occur: renovations, leadership shifts, price changes, or new facilities. Each piece displays its latest update date so you know how current the information remains.
What I Look For
My priorities may differ from yours, so here is what I consider most important when assessing a gym:
Comfort and Privacy: Does the area feel thoughtfully laid out for members, with respectful boundaries and a peaceful vibe?
Equipment Quality: Are machines well-maintained? Is there sufficient variety? Are issues addressed promptly?
Crowd Management: Is it feasible to train at your preferred times without constant waiting?
Clean Facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and surfaces of equipment. Cleanliness indicates how seriously management takes the member experience.
Honest Membership Practices: Transparent pricing, clear rules, and no unwanted surprises.
Beyond the Gym
Outside of training and writing, I live and work in Lisboa. This project aims to simplify fitness choices and make them more transparent for those seeking the right setting.
